It was lovely to have you Katrina. I could have chatted all day to you! Thank you for inspiring our young students at Faith.
Cherie Porter – Teacher Librarian Faith Lutheran College Redlands
I just wanted to say thank you for two wonderful days at Xavier. The feedback that I have received from both children and teachers has been so amazingly positive. You did a wonderful job. Thank you.
We would love you to visit us again in a couple of years.
Graham Bebington – Teacher Librarian Xavier Catholic College
“An Author, an Illustrator and a Storyteller” Incursion based on the picture book “The Very Shy Peacock” was an engaging, informative and entertaining experience for our students. The three presenters shared their love of literature and their expertise in each discipline. Through the exploration of this beautiful picture book, the children were inspired to view themselves as authors, illustrators and storytellers and that with perseverance and courage, they can achieve anything.
Melina Matta – Class Teacher Guardian Angels’ Primary School
I liked drawing our own characters and how eyes show feelings. I liked the rhyming in Katrina’s books.
(Zac Year 3)
Steve was a very good storyteller and he was funny.
(Luis Year 3)
I really enjoyed how Steve put in expression, the drawing with Vanessa and the time with Katrina.
(Ethan T Year 3)
It was really good. We learned something important in each session. With Katrina we learned how to be an author, in Vanessa’s group we learned about how to draw different eyes and in Steve’s group, he was funny and people got to dress up.
(Ethan H. Year 3)
I like how Katrina gave us lots of information about writing books.
(Zeke Year 3)
I really liked how Steve picked people to dress up as birds and how Vanessa taught us drawing skills.
(Jazz Year 3)
I really like the way Steve brought the story into life and people wore the costumes. It was really funny.
(Joey Year 3)
I am really grateful that I had the opportunity to work with Katrina and will certainly use her valuable teachings with future students. I love the way the kids were coached, motivated and so actively engaged! Thank you so much for attending our Celebration Night Katrina. It was the icing on the cake for the kids to have your wonderful feedback on all the hard work you inspired. I am hoping to attend Katrina’s book launch next week with some of my students.
Tara McKenzie – Year 7 Teacher Mt Gravatt State High School
Thank you so much for coming to visit our Year 3 Extension class. The students were very excited and are enthusiastic about their writing. I hope we can get you back soon and will let you know how our picture books are progressing.

Thanks Katrina! The students have written some lovely responses regarding your visit and one student has even typed the first chapter of his novel. Your visit was really well-received by all. The Principal and Deputy will recommend you to other schools in the area and I will send a letter of thanks to you soon.
Nicole King – Teacher Librarian Tingalpa State School
Thank you for your presentation on Monday. I have had some great feedback from students and teachers. I was reading with the Year 3 girls before school yesterday and one girl said “We had an author here yesterday and she was awesome!”
Clare Skully – Teacher Librarian Cleveland State School
23 years ago when our son was born there were no children’s books about this conception, so these books are so important. We have kept newspaper and magazine articles but these wonderful books are exactly what is needed to explain IVF to children.
I read both books in the waiting room of my IVF specialist! I had a little cry with the first one. Thank you!
I was very privileged to be able to read such amazing well written IVF story books. They address topical issues, and as far as I know nothing has been written to discuss this from the children’s perspective. It will capture a child’s interest and curiosity because it’s exciting to read and informative. I have a relative who has had an IVF baby so it will be a great present to give her. IVF children and parents will be helped so much by reading it and hopefully the world a better informed place as a result. I especially love how you are donating money to the Royal Children’s Hospital; this can only lead to prosperity! Well done Katrina! I can’t wait to have a copy of your book and to see it in our library. I am so excited for you! Keep in touch and my very best wishes for a great year!
I received your books – thank you they look great! We are very happy to promote your books to the libraries across Australia. I think your books will do really well with the libraries as they look very interesting and easy to read and understand!
They are great books and look fantastic – Thank you!
We love them! We’re happy to display them in our clinic. I especially like the Australian feel to the stories. Congratulations on producing such a great resource!
I have read the books and really enjoyed them. As an IVF recipient I loved them especially 2nd one I’m IVF. Great job!
I just received your two books as a present, and they are great. I have a book called “it takes three to make a baby” on donor IVF, but nothing on the actual basics, so it will be great to have something to read to our little miracle man! Thanks so much for taking the time to put pen to paper.
I got the book late last week. It’s a great book, well written and the illustrations are lovely. I’ll enjoy reading it to my girls. Thanks.
Thank you, I did receive the books and have read them, they are wonderful. On behalf of the Foundation I also want to thank you for donating from the proceeds of your books, I will circulate my copies here so that our team are familiar with them and can talk about them as a resource for families with IVF children.
Your books are very simple and easy to read – perfect for our target audience!! We also love the artwork as well.
Thanks so much for sending the books they are just lovely. We would be happy to include them in our list of recommended books for parents.
Just wanted to let you know I received the book! Sooo glad you have written this kind of book! I came across it one day sitting at the fertility clinic for one of my millionth blood tests and I thought wow! I must get one of these for my little embryo 🙂 So glad I was able to. I also grabbed one for my girlfriend who is about to give birth to her second child through IVF. No better way to describe to our little miracles how they came to be, once again thank you!
I’ve just shared my excitement for receiving the books in the post today with some IVF friends on facebook/bub hub. Some hadn’t heard of the books so I’ve shared your facebook link and website with them! So happy with them …
Just thought I’d say what a great idea these books are. I picked up “I’m I.V.F!” the other day and thought I would now purchase “Who’s Ivy F I.V.F?” I plan on keeping these books until I have my own IVF baby! – Which hopefully won’t be too far down the track. Thanks! Great to meet you yesterday. I read your books to my little poppet last night (he is 3 months old) and I think he enjoyed them. Probably all a bit young at the moment, but I think they are great. Thank you so much………I’ll be keeping my eye out for your donor books.
Just want to say a big thank you for writing the I.V.F books and the Straddie book. I gave our neighbours the I.V.F books and they loved them. They said that they had been looking for ways of telling their children about it but as you know there isn’t much out there.
Hi Katrina,We love your book! ‘Straddie’ is our favourite story time book and after just having it short of a week now we nearly know the book off by heart.Thank you so much for writing a great little book!Kind regards, Chantelle
Love this book Katrina! When is the next one?
Congrats on a beautiful book!!! As we had spent our Xmas holidays at Straddie the book is perfect. The kids were excited to see so many of the things they saw there on holidays in the book. Lovely illustrations too Adore your book Thank you! I will happily promote this book for you, the story is lovely and the illustrations are also very nice. My daughter brought home your book today from school and she insisted that I e-mailed you and tell you she enjoyed your book.
Congratulations on your publication! It is such a relevant text for us here in the ‘Bay’ area. We are very fortunate to have this beautiful publication that we can relate to. I think the book could be used on a variety of levels with classes. We could use it to research the lives of the animals mentioned. What a colourful way to present the joyous activities of the freedoms of childhood. Well done! I would just be very happy to promote this worthwhile piece of literature.
‘Thank You’ Katrina! ‘Straddie’ is a wonderful addition to our Junior Fiction. We shall treasure it and it will be well used. I shall have to get you to sign it for us when you are around the library sometime.
Fantastic book ,we have read it over and over again and still enjoy it, wonderful pictures and over all one of the best books we have bought for a while
